Overview

BSS is recruiting an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established construction and retrofit contractor based in Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor with 3+ years post-qualification experience to join a growing commercial team and take ownership of projects across both retrofit and traditional construction sectors.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with experienced commercial professionals and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle from procurement through to final account.

Key Responsibilities

Retrofit Projects

• Source, assess, and procure subcontractors for retrofit works.
• Negotiate competitive rates and commercial agreements with trade contractors.
• Prepare, issue, and manage subcontractor payment requisitions.
• Monitor project costs and maintain budget control.
• Manage project variations and agree final accounts with subcontractors.
• Maintain strong commercial relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Main Contracting Projects

• Take full commercial responsibility for 1–2 smaller construction projects.
• Prepare cost plans, budgets, valuations, and cash flow forecasts.
• Produce accurate monthly cost reports for senior management review.
• Work closely with Site Managers and Contracts Managers to manage project costs and commercial performance.
• Identify, value, and agree project variations.
• Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
• Monitor project risks and identify opportunities for cost savings.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years post-qualification Quantity Surveying experience.
• Previous experience working for a Main Contractor is highly desirable.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard Quantity Surveying software.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative commercial team.
