Site Engineer (Civils, Setting Out, QAQC)

An established civil engineering contractor is recruiting a hands-on Site Civil Engineer for a substation construction
project in Duleek, Co. Meath. The priority is accurate setting out of civil works, supported by practical site
quality assurance and quality control. This is an opportunity to work on specialist energy infrastructure with
scope to take on wider site responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of day-to-day setting out and dimensional checks for the substation civil works, using total
station, GPS and levelling equipment as appropriate.
Accurately set out foundations, bases, slabs, structural openings, penetrations and associated builders
works in line with approved drawings.
Set out underground duct routes, cable trenches, service crossings, drainage runs, manholes and
associated levels, falls and coordinates.
Interpret construction and engineering drawings, identify discrepancies early and raise technical queries
before works proceed.
Carry out quality checks and inspections, maintain inspection and test records, photographic evidence,
check sheets and as-built survey information.
Coordinate with the Site Manager, supervisors, subcontractors and project delivery team to ensure works
are completed to specification and programme.
Monitor workmanship and tolerances, record defects or non-conformances and follow corrective actions
through to closure.
Additional Responsibilities Desirable
Support site health and safety arrangements, including safe work observations, permit coordination and
routine documentation where competent and authorised.
Assist with material take-offs, advance call-offs, delivery checks and short-term planning to keep the works
moving.
Contribute to progress updates, subcontractor coordination and day-to-day site administration.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related construction discipline.
Ideally 3 or more years of relevant site engineering experience, with strong independent setting-out
capability.
Proficient in total station, GPS, levels and reading technical drawings; working knowledge of AutoCAD or
equivalent drawing software.
Practical understanding of civil groundworks, drainage, ducting, concrete works, underground services and
site quality records.
Previous experience on substations, utilities, energy infrastructure or industrial projects is highly
advantageous but not essential.
Clear communication, attention to detail and the ability to coordinate site works with minimal supervision.
Current Safe Pass and relevant site certifications, or ability to obtain the required credentials before
starting.
The Opportunity
Permanent position with a contractor active in civil engineering and energy-infrastructure projects across
Ireland.
Indicative salary range 55,00070,000 gross per annum, depending on experience; final package and
benefits to be confirmed by the employer.
Strong emphasis on practical engineering and setting out, with an opportunity to develop broader QAQC
and site management skills.
