A well-established civil engineering and utilities contractor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and manage health and safety performance across multiple infrastructure and utilities projects in Ireland.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high safety standards, ensuring full compliance with Irish legislation, and promoting a proactive safety culture across all projects and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the company Health & Safety Management System
Ensure compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and Construction Regulations 2013
Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and compliance reviews
Support project teams in preparing risk assessments and method statements
Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and implement corrective actions
Provide safety advice and guidance to project managers, engineers and site supervisors
Monitor safety performance and prepare regular safety reports for senior management
Promote a strong safety culture through training, engagement and awareness initiatives
Requirements
Level 8 Honours Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline
Minimum 7+ years experience in a Health & Safety role in within civil engineering or construction
Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and HSA requirements
Experience conducting site safety audits and incident investigations
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Full driving licence
Desirable
Experience working on civil engineering or utilities infrastructure projects
Membership or working towards membership of IOSH
Experience implementing ISO 45001 safety management systems
