About the Company
Building Staff Solutions (BSS) is recruiting on behalf of a leading Irish civil engineering
contractor delivering major utility and infrastructure projects throughout Ireland. Due to
the award of a significant ESB power station project in Cork, our client is seeking an
experienced Project Manager to lead this high-profile contract.

The Role
Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for planning,
coordinating and delivering an ESB power station civil engineering project from
commencement through to completion. This is a site-based contract role expected to run for
approximately eight months, commencing in early August.
Key Responsibilities
 Manage the overall delivery of the project to programme and budget.
 Lead site management teams, subcontractors and direct labour.
 Ensure compliance with ESB specifications and project requirements.
 Prepare and manage look-ahead programmes and project reporting.
 Coordinate with the Quantity Surveyor and commercial team.
 Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety and environmental compliance.
 Liaise with the client, consultants and utility stakeholders.
 Chair site meetings and coordinate all project activities.
 Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures.
 Ensure quality standards are achieved throughout the project.
Requirements
 Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
 Proven experience managing civil engineering or utility infrastructure projects.
 Previous ESB, substation, power or utilities experience is highly desirable.
 Strong background in earthworks, drainage, reinforced concrete and infrastructure.
 Excellent leadership and communication skills.
 Full clean driving licence.

BSS are currently recruiting a Senior Project Manager on behalf of a leading Irish Civil Engineering Contractor. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take ownership of major infrastructure, utilities, roadworks, and public sector projects across Ireland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, delivery, commercial performance, and safe execution of projects from commencement through to completion. Working closely with clients, site teams, commercial staff, and senior management, you will ensure projects are delivered on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes using Microsoft Project.
  • Monitor project progress, identify critical path delays, and implement mitigation strategies where required.
  • Negotiate extensions of time and programme adjustments with clients when necessary.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, and commercial performance to ensure profitability targets are achieved.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Manage project variations, claims, and contractual notices.
  • Review contract documentation and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, engineers, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Review and approve monthly valuations, progress claims, and project reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections.
  • Manage client relationships and attend project progress meetings.
  • Identify design issues and work collaboratively with clients and consultants to develop practical solutions.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7+ years experience managing civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or roadworks projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and project delivery methodologies.
  • Proven experience managing project programmes using Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets and variations.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and best practice.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Utilities and road corridor experience highly desirable.

A leading civil engineering and utilities contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee water infrastructure projects across the Greater Dublin Area. This role will involve full project lifecycle management on critical utilities works.

Key Responsibilities

– Manage water infrastructure projects from planning through to completion
