Our client is a mid-tier main contractor delivering projects across commercial, education, healthcare, pharmaceutical and heritage sectors. They are recruiting a Site Engineer for a brownfield development on the outskirts of Carlow, where they are building three steel-framed warehouses with office mezzanines and full external works. The role starts in December or January.

Responsibilities

• Set out the works, from groundworks and foundations through to the steel frame and external works
• Establish and maintain site control, grids and levels
• Set out and check foundations and holding-down bolts for the steel portal frames
• Set out drainage, new utilities, kerbing, permeable paving and retaining walls
• Check works against drawings and specifications before and after each stage
• Produce as-builts and keep site records and QA documentation up to date
• Raise and track RFIs, and resolve technical queries with the design team
• Support the Site Manager on programme, subcontractor coordination and BCAR records

Requirements

• Degree in civil or structural engineering, or equivalent
• Site Engineer experience with a main contractor or civils contractor
• Experience on industrial or commercial new builds, ideally steel frame
• Experience setting out external works and drainage
• Strong setting out skills: total station, GPS and level
• Valid Safe Pass and site certifications
• Available for a December or January start

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for setting out and survey control across the site
• Set out demolition works, groundworks, drainage, foundations and forecourt levels as works progress
• Work from drawings and specifications to ensure the build matches the design
• Produce and mark up drawings in AutoCAD
• Check levels and dimensions ahead of and following each stage of works
• Keep accurate site records, as built information and progress reports
• Liaise with the site management team and subcontractors on sequencing and site queries
• Support quality control and health and safety on site

Requirements

• Site Engineer experience on civils projects
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Strong setting out and survey control skills
• Leica experience an advantage, training provided for the right candidate

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day to day setting out on site
• Ensure the works are built in line with drawings, design details and specification
• Manage site information, covering specifications, design drawings and design issues
• Engage with the design team to resolve issues arising during construction
• Liaise with and support the Site Manager to keep the project running smoothly
• Deputise for the Site Manager when required
• Ensure EHS and quality systems are adhered to on site
• Manage material quality
• Coordinate with the local authorities
• Resolve technical difficulties and unexpected problems as they arise
• Prepare reports as required

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Construction or Engineering
• Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in a Site Engineer role
• Residential experience is essential
• Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail and problem solving ability
• Clear understanding of current construction and health and safety regulations
• Strong communicator, able to work as part of a site team and hit deadlines
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Full clean European driving licence, or working towards one
