Job Title – Quantity Surveyor – Site based Dublin
Salary: €80K – €90K DOE
Hours: Full time 5 days

Summary of role
To support the commercial performance of projects and profitable growth of the Civils & Utilities business Division. The Quantity Surveyor provides sufficient evidence to support payment claims against project targets, monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects commercially.
Responsibilities
-Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Health and Safety procedures within your work. Ensuring you are responsible for yourself and/or team members who report into you
-To assist with P&L responsibility for projects whilst working within the delegated levels of authority issued by the contract manager
-Support estimating and tender preparation then use the costing information as a basis for monitoring performance against pre-determined costs etc
-Provide assistance with project planning functions, help define project budget and pricing additional works / variations to contract
-To help determine client requirements, assess and compare options available and ensure designs meet budget and legal / quality standards
-Aid in the preparation of cost plans, estimates and cash flow projections, supporting procurement activities, advising on packaging and bills of quantity etc
-Co-ordinate with commercial managers with format & content of contractual correspondence
-Help prepare for final account meetings to resolve major accounts for measured work, loss and expense claims or contra charges, assisting the commercial position of the business and ensuring it is fully protected at all times. To carry out labour target and incentive
payment calculations
-Carry out feasibility studies, and risk / value management exercises, identifying and escalating commercial problems to the contract manager
-Calculate and agree monthly valuations with clients, generate invoices and assist credit control with any delayed payments
-To support the reporting of clear and accountable work in progress (WIP) with controls and measures that support the monitoring of performance against tender and contract valuations
-Ensure all costs are checked and, where necessary, inaccuracies reported to the senior quantity surveyor and/or contract manager
What you need to have:
-Qualification/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent,
-Five years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor,
-Experience in Civils & Utlilties Projects
-Knowledge of various contract types and legal framework

Our client is a leading consultancy based in Cork working on Pharmaceutical Projects with leading blue chip clients. They are now recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Cost Consultant to join their professional team.
Role description:
- To deliver cost and commercial management and contract administration services across Data Centre and Energy Centre developments and other asset classes as required.
- Responsible for delivering the scope of work in line with established controls, and demonstrate significant technical knowledge and experience in this field
- Working as part of and leading a team alongside Associate Director and above team members in the Cost & Commercial Management Team to manage and deliver projects
- Liaising with external contractors and consultants
- Reporting to clients and stakeholders
Role accountabilities:
- Work within established financial systems and budgets to produce reports and forecasts and track budgets, overseeing costing and variances in order to manage and control cost variables
- Deliver a variety of cost projects and assignments or significant components of larger assignments, ensuring appropriate use of resources and budgets to deliver the required scope of work within set deadlines
- Provide advice to colleagues on risk management, compliance and associated behaviours, to ensure adherence to client risk and compliance processes
- Present any project risks or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted
- Analyse and review a range of data and documents to collate key themes and trends, using this analysis in conjunction with own knowledge to provide advice and make recommendations to support cost and commercial management decision-making
- Use own knowledge and experience combined with research of industry best practice to analyse existing processes and policies
- Share knowledge and provide insightful recommendations to assist service improvement and innovation
- Interact effectively and proactively across the organisation, seeking to develop ways to support collaboration with the cost management function, and applying technical knowledge to ensure projects/programmes can be delivered to meet cost expectations
- Provide specialist technical advice to senior management on issues relating to cost/commercial management, providing solutions and actively sharing knowledge in order to support successful delivery
- Manage relationships and collaborate with clients and external stakeholders, in order to ensure client satisfaction and create new business opportunities
- Demonstrable understanding of clients key objectives within the appropriate sector
Qualifications & Experience:
- Possess the skills and experience to actively support the internal team on technically complex Data Centre projects/programme of works typically ranging between €5m to €350m
- Data Centre Cost and Commercial Management experience, with strong MEPH QS knowledge preferable
- Experience of working closely with external stakeholders to build client relationships
- Experience in managing business relationships at middle-management level
- Capable of taking a project through from inception to completion
- Desirable experience of coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues and emerging leadership skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Relevant professional qualification or chartered status
- Safe Pass card holder
