About the Company
BSS is recruiting on behalf of a well-established Civil Engineering Contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering infrastructure and utilities projects throughout Dublin and the South East. Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their expanding HSEQ team and to be based on site in Wexford.

The Role
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture across multiple civil engineering and utilities projects. The successful candidate will work closely with site teams, management and operational staff to ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation while supporting continuous improvement throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out site inspections, audits and safety assessments.

Complete comprehensive risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.

Investigate incidents and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.

Deliver health and safety inductions, toolbox talks and training programmes.

Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.

Monitor compliance with company procedures and current health & safety legislation.

Liaise with site management to resolve safety issues promptly.

Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.

Assist with the development and continuous improvement of HSEQ systems and procedures.

Provide practical advice and guidance to site teams and management.
Candidate Requirements
-
Degree (Level 8) in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent qualification.

35 years experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction or civil engineering sector.
-
Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
-
Experience delivering toolbox talks and health & safety training.
-
Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of an organisation.

Full clean driving licence.
-
Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
Desirable
-
Previous experience within civil engineering, utilities, water, telecoms or power infrastructure projects.

First Aid qualification.
-
Manual Handling Instructor certification.
-
Abrasive Wheels Instructor qualification.
-
Experience working within ISO-certified management systems.
