1. Construction begins at Bray Head in Kerry (Source: Cork Independent)
Construction officially began this month on a new project to upgrade the Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Point at Bray Head, Valentia Island in Kerry. Following an investment of €2.13million from Fáilte Ireland, the project will be delivered in partnership with Kerry County Council. The project will enhance the existing Discovery Point at Bray Head by restoring and conserving the historic Bray Head Signal Tower, installing a new concrete spiral staircase and viewing platform offering visitors stunning views of the Skellig Islands and south west coast. It will also include upgrades to the access road and car park to improve accessibility.
2. Translink submit plans for £36m office building on Lanyon Place Train Station car park (Source: Irish News)
The parent company of Translink has formally lodged plans to develop a £36.4 million office building on the car park at Belfast’s Lanyon Place Train Station. ‘Gateway Building’ proposal has been scaled down to eight storeys.
3. Cork heritage group gets go-ahead to build Lusitania museum (Source: Irish Examiner)
A Kinsale-based heritage group has received planning permission from Cork County Council for a new museum to commemorate the Lusitania. The Old Head Signal Tower Heritage CLC has gotten the green light for a new Lusitania Museum on a site close to where the vessel infamously sank more than 100 years ago.
4. Construction work begins on new multi-million euro enterprise and digital hub in Monaghan (Source: Irish Independent)
Work has begun on a new multi-million euro enterprise and digital hub in county Monaghan. The state of the art facility at Knockconan, Emyvale, has been a key target of community led body Truagh Development Association (TDA) since the turn of the decade. Having secured planning permission in 2020, the organisation subsequently joined forces with Monaghan County Council to make a successful application for funding under for the State’s Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).

The CIF Health & Safety Summit 2025 will bring together Ireland’s construction sector to reinforce the importance for those in senior management positions, to ensure they are updated on legal compliance and standards to which they will be held, on health and safety. Guest speakers will discuss how collaboration with stakeholders is key to organising co-operation between designers to ensure co-ordination of their activities in relation to the design of the project, with a view to protecting the safety, health and welfare of persons involved in construction work.
