- Ireland’s construction sector to be worth over €20bn by 2027 (Source: Irish Independent)
Ireland’s construction market is set to expand by 10pc by 2027 to more than €20.4bn, with activity in civil engineering and commercial projects spearheading the growth. A new report published by UK-based Construction Information Services (CIS) reckons that despite the huge demand in Ireland for homes, the residential sector here will deliver cumulative growth of just 5pc between 2026 and the end of 2027.

2. €220m Rosslare Europort Hub to create 2,000 jobs for the region ( Source: Wexford Local)
Iarnród Éireann, Port Authority for Rosslare Europort, has confirmed its intent to lodge a planning application for the development of the Rosslare Offshore Renewable Energy Hub (Rosslare ORE Hub), a landmark new facility designed to support Ireland’s growing offshore wind, wave and tidal industry. The plans, which will be submitted to An Coimisiún Pleanála next week, are a blueprint for the State’s largest ever purpose-built port facility dedicated to offshore renewable energy (ORE).

3. Laois company becomes first in Ireland to achieve top sustainability rating (Source: Laois Today)
Midland Steel Group, based in Portlaoise, has achieved a major sustainability milestone.They have become the first company in Ireland and only the second across the independent CARES (Certification Authority for Reinforcing Steels) network to be awarded 3 Stars under the Sustainable Constructional Steel (SCS) certification – the highest rating available. The company also retained a ‘Very Good’ rating under BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing, reinforcing its commitment to responsible material sourcing, carbon reduction, and supply chain transparency.

4. Green light for 99 homes in Waterford despite fears that construction will interfere with flights (Source: Independent IE)
Other concerns centred on infrastructure, local amenities, light pollution and overshadowing, noise pollution, anti-social behaviour, privacy and security, and the potential environmental impact. Waterford’s local authority has given the green light for 99 homes in the south eastern outskirts of the city, despite concerns that construction could interfere with flights in to and out of Waterford Airport.
