2. Green light for 88 new homes in Carrigaline (Source: Irish Examiner)
Cork County Council has given the green light for 88 new homes in Carrigaline on a vacant site off Pottery Rd. Boar’s Head Limited sought planning permission for a mixed-use development at Carrigaline Town Centre on a 1.84 ha site. The approved plans will include 88 residential housing units, comprising 18 three-bed duplex units, 25 two-bed duplex units, 22 two-bed apartments, and 23 one-bed apartments, as well as five ground-floor retail units including a cafe, a gym, a hair salon, a day care, and a newsagents.

3. LDA lodges plans for 356 homes at Galway Port (Source: Irish Building Magazine)
The homes at Amharc Atalia are proposed to be developed on land being transferred to the Agency by Galway Harbour Company (GHC). The proposed LDA development will include 172 one-bed, 169 two-bed and 15 three-bed apartments across four blocks ranging from six to 13 storeys. The plans, which have been submitted to Galway City Council, also include a new public plaza, a landscaped coastal walking path, communal gardens, play areas, retail units and a creche. Subject to planning approval, construction is scheduled to commence in Q4 2027. Ideally situated on the waterfront at the Galway inner harbour, the proposed development would provide much-needed cost rental and social housing in a location that is less than a 10-minute walk from the city centre.

4. Can the carbon impact of concrete be reduced? (Source: RTE)
Cement and concrete are amazing. Yes, you have read that right. Combined, they form the basis for all infrastructure around us from our homes to the roads, bridges and tunnels we drive on, to airports, stadiums and train stations. The recently constructed 3D concrete printed house in Dundalk demonstrates the advancement in technology and material science that concrete is making to our infrastructure.
